چکیده
Abstract We measured water quality monthly for 22 years in entering, within, and exiting a 65 km 2 shallow polymictic eutrophic freshwater lake the northern Gulf of Mexico. Fertilizer use watershed is dominate source phosphorous (P) going into controls lake’s P concentrations, but nitrogen (N) fertilizer was not related to total concentration lake. Half particulate entering trapped within it there net accumulation N that appears be from stimulation fixation. The Chlorophyll (µg Chl l −1 ) increase directly Variations downstream are also annual fertilizer, use. Reducing agriculture-sourced runoff will lower (but eliminate) both frequency algal blooms Lac des Allemands amount delivered estuary.

Nitrogen deposition and lake nitrogen concentrations: a regional analysis of terrestrial controls and aquatic linkages
Loading of nutrients from terrestrial ecosystems strongly influences the productivity and biogeochemistry of aquatic ecosystems. Human activities can supplement and even dominate nutrient loading to many lakes, particularly in agricultural and urbanized settings. For lakes in more remote regions such as the Adirondack Mountains of New York, N deposition represents the primary potential anthropo...

Predicting Nitrogen and Phosphorus Concentrations using Chlorophyll-a Fluorescence and Turbidity
Introduction High sedimentation and nutrient loading is a major issue leading to undesirable water quality conditions, especially in extensive agricultural systems (Turner and Rabalais 2003). Eutrophication in both inland and coastal systems has shown to be deleterious to aquatic ecosystem functioning (Dodds and Whiles 2010). Controlling excess nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen can slow...
متن کاملExport of manure phosphorus and nitrogen in turfgrass sod.
Regulatory mandates have increased demand for best management practices (BMPs) that will reduce nutrient loading on watersheds impaired by excess manure P and N. Export of manure P and N in turfgrass sod harvests is one BMP under consideration. This study quantified amounts and percentages of P and N removed in a sod harvest for different rates of manure and inorganic P and N. Six treatments co...
متن کاملNitrogen Dioxide Concentrations in the Atmosphere
This Policy Position Statement outlines the technical challenges involved in the assessment and management of future concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in the atmosphere. It notes that NO2 is the pollutant responsible for most breaches in European standards for air quality in the UK and that, as a result, a robust evidence based approach is required to assess future concentrations of this...
